Powerlifting competition can look intimidating from the outside, but the path to your first meet is more accessible than most people think. It comes down to three lifts, practiced consistently, with a coach who understands competition standards.
Building a base
Before we talk about a meet, we build a solid technical base in the squat, bench and deadlift — usually a good number of months of consistent training. Competition-specific prep, like practicing to commands and dialing in attempts, comes after that foundation is in place.
Race day isn't the goal
The clients who enjoy their first meet most are the ones who went in with realistic expectations and solid technique, not necessarily the heaviest numbers. We prepare clients for the platform the same way we prepare them for everything else: patiently, and with a plan.
